VINCENZO BURLIZZI
Born in Melissano (LECCE) in 1967.
EDUCATION AND TEACHING EXPERIENCE
After a classical education in Casarano (LECCE) he attended the Faculty
of Architecture at Florence University. In 1993 he left University in
order to carry out his National Service. In 1995 he came back to Florence
to attend (for four years) the etching course at the International School
of specialisation in Graphic Art ‘Il Bisonte’. In 1997 he received the
professional qualification of ‘Etcher’ and in 1999 he obtained the qualification
of ‘ Etcher and Printmaker’ awarded by the Region of Tuscany and the
European Union. From 1996 to 1998 he was laboratory assistant during
the course of colour etching held in Barga (LUCCA) by Prof. Kraczyna.
In the academic year 1998-1999 he was laboratory assistant at the etching
course of the Open University in Florence. In 1999 he held a course
of lectures for the Restoration Course of the Opificio delle Pietre
Dure in Florence. He is currently laboratory assistant at ‘Il Bisonte’,
where he has also taught as lecturer for the ‘Master in Lithography
and Art Print’ organised by the Region of Tuscany.
EXHIBITIONS
Since 1995 he participated in numerous exhibitions of graphic art in
Florence, Braga, Salsomaggiore Terme, Brescia, Pistoia, Panama City
(Panama Republic), Cadaques (Spain), Tokyo (Japan), Chamaliers (France).
His work also appears in ‘Repertoire of Italian Etchers’ vol. II 1993-1996,
Faenza Editions, Faenza 1997; "Repertoire of Italian Xylography" (1946-1998),
Pietro Chegai Editions, Firenze 1999, and in the catalogue "Attualità
della Tradizione. Incisori per il Bisonte" (Engl. ‘The relevance of
tradition: etchers for Il Bisonte’), Giunti Editions, Firenze 2000.
