The solo exhibition proposes a selection of works produced using intaglio techniques and ancient printing processes such as cyanotype, gumprint and salted paper, in which the artist investigates the theme of the dialogical coexistence between man, animal and environment in a hybrid sense, hoping for the return to an original, almost primordial conception, which unites all living beings.
The artist explains: “Man creates, modifies his environment by looking at what surrounds him according to a utilitarian logic. Everything revolves around the satisfaction of mostly induced needs. First the human being and then the rest, as if our feet did not rest on earth, our body did not breathe air and shared with other living beings much more than the ground we walk on. The project The Common Descent does not set out in a dimension beyond man but on the contrary it is in the origins that it seeks its meaning. ”
The event is part of the “print [in] process” project, conceived by the art historian and curator Silvia Bellotti and promoted by the Il Bisonte Foundation with the contribution of the CR Firenze Foundation, in order to merge the tradition of printmaking with the experimentation of new expressive languages.
On the occasion of the opening, the volume “La comune descendenza” published by Metilene Edizioni will be presented.
