The Institutional residencies are accessible only through personal invitation

Artists and printmaking teachers can access the INSTITUTIONAL residencies program through a CALL. Their projects will be presented to the Scientific Board of the Il Bisonte Foundation to choose a winner. The selected artists will have access to our laboratories for FREE.
During their stay there will be regular meetings with the teachers of the school.

The deadlines for submitting the application and the periods of residence are specified in the Call. INSTITUTIONAL residences last from 1 to a maximum of 3 months. THE RESULTS OF THE SELECTION WILL BE COMMUNICATED by email within two weeks after the deadlines specified in the call.

To submit your application to the INSTITUTIONAL residence you must send by email:
– the application form duly completed
– the CV
– Scanned image of Identity card
– A description of the Project the artist would like to realize during residence
– a recent portfolio with up to 5 images (.jpg format)
– A signed copy of the contract
– Artists must be in compliance with VISA, residence permits and have health insurance that covers any eventuality during the stay.

The artists can access the studio from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 6 pm. During the year we reserve the use of the studio to schools for some days, the direction will work for not overlay the two different activities, but on the infrequent case that this is not possible it may be necessary to move to an adjacent studio.
The work spaces are shared with other artists. All artists are required to keep their work area clean and dispose of waste properly after class. At the end of the period of residence the artist must leave clean and tidy the work space, empty the drawers used and return the borrowed material.

The school’s studios are fully equipped and independent. The large courtyard houses the tanks for acids, the stove and the aquatint box, as well as the basins to clean the matrices. At the school it is possible to work with non-toxic materials.

The premises of the school have a wi-fi coverage.

On the first day a member of the staff will introduce the school premises and offer the necessary assistance to start the residency.
Each artist will work independently on his own project, without help from school’s teacher, it is desirable a periodic review of the work with the teachers. If requested is possible to receive qualified assistance from our staff, it will be charged as listed in our price list.

Il Bisonte has a library open to pubblic, it can be consulted during the opening hours of the secretariat from Monday to Friday 9am – 1pm and 3pm – 7pm. 
Books can not be loaned and must be placed in their place once they have been consulted.

The school will provide the following materials: calcium presses, alcohol, petroleum, abrasive powders, detergents, acids (ferric perchloride, nitric acid, copper sulfate), tissue paper, tampons, metal spatulas, lime, soap, handwashing paste, calcium carbonate, rags, shellac, wood pulp board.
Some consumable materials might be included, depending on a the specific agreement after the Call is issued and the Direction of the Foundation had evaluated the artist’s requests.

The equipment of the School is precious. Since everyone can use it, you need to pay special attention and return this equipment in the same state as it was used. No material must be taken away from the school.

The secretariat is available to the artist to provide a letter of acceptance to request any financing or residence permits.

The works created by the artists of the INSTUTIONAL RESIDENCIES will be published in the annual catalog of the Il Bisonte Foundation.

At the end of the INSTITUTIONAL residence it is required to donate two prints from the edition produced, they will be included in the collection of Il Bisonte Foundation. If more editions are produced it is up to the foundation management to select the prints, for monotypes and monoprints a specific agreement has to be set.
Artists participating in an INSTITUTIONAL residence are required to hold a series of classes with the students of Il Bisonte Foundation.

Il Bisonte cannot provide lodging for the artists in residence but we can offer assistance to find accommodation in the city.
Most of the consumables (ink, paper, tarlatana, plates) nor work tools are included in the price. Every artist must use his own materials. Tarlatana, ink, printing paper, zinc matrices, copper, wood, plexiglass can be purchased at IL BISONTE secretariat or in fine art shops. On request, and one month in advance, we can purchase specific material, which the artist can pay at the time he will make the residence.

Il Bisonte has no insurance for the artists and assumes no legal responsibility for them, their job, the trip or any other activity while participating in the residency program.

Il Bisonte does not take care to send back the works or material not collected at the time of departure.

All claims must be made by the artist to their private insurance.

Il Bisonte and its staff are not responsible for any injury or health problems of the artist in residence (accident / illness) during the stay.

Il Bisonte and its staff are not responsible for any theft suffered. We recommend that you keep your property safe. You can rent a locker, paying a deposit of € 3, to store your work tools.
